This digital accessibility statement applies to the mobile application Naturblick of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin in the following versions:

- iOS Version: 4.0.51

Compatibility with Accessibility Requirements
This app currently does not fully meet the requirements of the Berlin Accessible ICT Ordinance (BIKTG Bln) in conjunction with EU Directive 2016/2102. The assessment is based on a comprehensive review by the Berlin Monitoring Body for Digital Accessibility in accordance with Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/1524.

According to the audit report dated 21 November 2024, 33 out of 64 requirements were not
met.
Compliance rate: 48.4%
Examples of existing barriers:
- Missing or insufficient alternative texts for images, buttons, and map content
- No media alternatives (text or transcription) for audio content (e.g., animal sounds)
- Cut-off text when using screen readers (e.g., TalkBack)
- Missing semantic structure (e.g., no heading levels)
- The app cannot be fully operated via keyboard or alternative input methods
- No accessibility statement available within the app
iOS Version (4.0.51)
According to the audit report dated 21 November 2024, 36 out of 61 requirements were not
met.
Compliance rate: 41%
Examples of existing barriers:
- Missing alternative texts similar to the Android version
- No textual explanations for audio content
- Navigation possible only in portrait mode
- Navigation elements not always clearly labeled
- Inconsistent use of structural features for assistive technologies
Justification
The identified issues stem from technical and design limitations of the current app architecture as well as a lack of resources for comprehensive revision. Full accessibility is not yet achieved but is being pursued step by step.
Planned Measures
The Museum für Naturkunde is working with its development partners to revise the app with the aim of removing identified barriers.
Planned actions for 2025 include:
- Adding alternative texts and accessible components
- Creating text-based media alternatives for audio content
- Reviewing content in German Sign Language
