Short Description
The common firecrest is very small with a yellow-orange crest stripe. It has a yellow-green back and a whitish belly. The wings are darker and have two white bands. There is a white stripe above the eyes and a black stripe above them.
The crown stripe of the male is more orange and that of the female is more yellow.

They eat insects, insect larvae and spiders.
They usually attach their nest to the underside of a branch. It is deep and thickly padded with moss.
