Short Description
The orpine can grow up to 50 cm tall.
The leaves are thick and fleshy (succulent). They are flat, elongated-ovate and unevenly toothed.
The stem is erect and glabrous.
The flowers are in dense, many-flowered inflorescences. The single flower has five pink to purple petals.
The plant forms five, small follicles per flower.

In the city, the orpine is usually found in stony places such as rubble piles and walls.
Fun Facts
The flowering period is from June to September.
The crushed leaves have a haemostatic effect and can be applied to minor injuries.
The roots can be used as a vegetable in stews.
A plant lives for several years and generally flowers and fruits annually (perennial plant).
