Short Description

Riverside cocklebur can grow up to one metre high. It smells aromatic.

The leaves are broadly triangular to heart-shaped (cordiform).

The stem often has a red tinge.

It has male, small yellow and female, large green flower heads.

The fruiting flower heads completely enclose the ripe fruits. They are barbed, which creates a burdock effect.
