In the city

In town, the wood warbler is found in sparse deciduous and mixed forests and in parks with sufficient undergrowth.

Fun Facts

  • The planting of non-native conifers impairs the habitat of the wood warbler.

  • Most wood warblers live in monogamous breeding or seasonal marriages. When the breeding season is over, 30-60% of males try to attract a second female partner.

  • Wood warblers are migratory birds that leave for Cameroon, Congo or Ethiopia in September and return to Germany in mid-April. The time of their departure and the direction of their flight are congenitally programmed.

  • Endangerment level Germany: not endangered
