Short Description
Silverleaf cinquefoil can grow up to 50 cm high.
The leaves are deeply incised and have a palmate appearance. The margin is deeply serrated and curved downward. The undersides of the leaves are light gray and covered with felt-like hairs.
The stem grows erect or more rarely lying down. It is covered with felt-like hairs.
The flower has five yellow, roundly arranged petals with a slightly heart-shaped edge at the front.
The plant forms many small nuts per flower. They remain in the dried calyx.

In the city
It prefers open, rather dry, sandy soils and therefore often grows on rough and sandy grasslands, roadsides and railroad yards.
Fun Facts
The small nut fruits remain in the dried fruit cup until ripe and are then shaken out by the wind.
The seeds can also mature without pollination. Mixing of the genetic material with other individuals of the same species then does not occur. In this way, numerous genetically similar clans could arise.
The flowering period is from June to October.
It lives for several years and generally flowers and fruits annually (perennial plant).
It is pollinated mainly by beetles, flies, bees and bumblebees.
