Short Description
Biting stonecrop can grow to a maximum height of 15 cm.
The leaves are very small, fleshy and oval. They grow alternately on the stem.
The stem is low and highly branched. It can form roots in several places.
The flowers are yellow with five petals. The individual petals are pointed.
The fruits are dry dehiscent fruits (follicles).

In the city
In an urban environment, biting stonecrop is often found on walls, railway land and gravel-covered roofs. It prefers sunny, comparatively dry sites with sandy to stony soil.
It is a common and popular plant for rockeries and roof gardens.

In small quantities, the dried plant can be used for seasoning.
The leaves have a very strong peppery or gingery taste.
It flowers from June to August.
It lives for several years and generally flowers and fruits annually (perennial plant).
