Short Description
The corn speedwell is small and densely hairy, especially on the upper part.
The short stem leaves are oval to ovate. The lower leaves are roughly serrated.
The stem has two rows of hair.
The light to dark blue flowers are in long, leafy inflorescences. They are white in the throat.
The small fruits are flat and almost as long as they are wide.

In the city
Corn speedwell grows in fields, dry meadows and along paths and walls. It prefers nutrient-rich, mostly calcareous loamy and sandy soils and is widespread and common.
Fun Facts
The flowering period is from March to October.
When wet, the fruits open and the seeds are flung or washed out by raindrops.
The plant is an annual and overwinters.
