Short Description
The perennial wall-rocket can grow up to 80 cm high.
The leaves are deeply lobed. They are glabrous and blue-green in colour. The upper leaves are often not divided.
The stem grows erect and branched. It often becomes woody at the base. It has leaves at least up to the middle.
The flowers have four yellow petals. They sit in loose racemes at the end of the stem.
The upright standing fruits are elongated, slightly flattened pods.

In the city
The perennial wall-rocket is often found on paths, rubble sites, wasteland and fields, as well as at railway stations and harbours. It is very common in warm lowlands. It thrives best on loose sandy soils.
Fun Facts
The stems and leaves contain mustard oils and smell strongly when crushed. Some people find the smell unpleasant.
The flowering period is from May to October.
It lives for several years and generally flowers and fruits annually (perennial plant).

Perennial wall-rocket originates from the Mediterranean region and has been recorded in Germany since 1768. It therefore belongs to the non-native plants (neophytes).
It is sold under the name "wild rocket" as an aromatic and spicy salad and seasoning plant.
