Short Description

Savin juniper is an evergreen shrub that can grow 2 to 5 metres high.

The blue-green leaves face each other crosswise. They are needle-shaped on young twigs and scale-like on older twigs. They smell very unpleasant, especially when crushed.

The trunk is strongly branched with lying branches. The bark is yellowish brown to reddish brown and flakes off in long strips.

The tiny flowers are yellow-green and inconspicuous.

The fruits are pea-sized berry cones. They are blue-black and have a distinctive light blue frost.
