Short Description

The spotted knapweed can grow up to 1.2 m high.

The leaves are elongated and usually divided into individual narrow leaflets (pinnate). The upper leaves are sessile. The leaves have white felted hairs.

The stem is angular and has white felt-like hairs.

At first glance, the flower head can be mistaken for a single flower. However, it is a pseudo flower. It consists of numerous, single, pink to light purple tubular florets. The flowers at the edge are enlarged.

The plant forms small, nut-like fruits with a crown of bristles.
