Short Description

The scented Solomon’s-seal can grow up to one metre high.

The leaves are broadly elliptical. They are solitary and alternate on the stem. They are mostly directed upwards.

The stem is sharp-edged and stands diagonally to curved.

The flowers are mostly solitary and hang to one side (secund). They are white with green tips and narrowly tubular. They are strongly fragrant.

The fruits are blue-black berries.

Similar species

Wild garlic

Allium ursinum
The leaves of the wild garlic have long, light-coloured stems. The petals are free and the flowers stand together in spherical inflorescences. The whole plant smells strongly of garlic.

The scented Solomon's seal is mainly found in urban forests and larger parks.
