Short Description

Hairy rockcress can grow up to 80 cm high.

The leaves on the stem are narrow and elongated. They have a roughly serrated leaf margin. The leaves at the base are in a rosette. They are less toothed or have entire margins.

The whole plant is rough-haired. The stem is erect. Upper leaves and pods are pressed to the stem.

The flowers are in narrow racemose inflorescences. They have four white petals.

The fruits are long, narrow pods.

In the city

In the city, hairy rockcress is often found on embankments and along paths. It prefers neglected grasslands and nutrient-poor soils.

  • The flowering period is from May to July.

  • It belongs to the cruciferous family, the same plant family as mustard, rocket and cabbage.
